The carp in the bathtub
Carp is the main dish of the Christmas Eve supper, and for decades families bought it alive and kept it swimming in the bath, a habit from the years when few homes had a fridge. Fewer shops sell live carp every year and more than half of Poles now say they'd back a ban, so everyone has a story.
